The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Baby Brain Games

Shapiro, Lawrence E., and Jennifer Lawler. 2008. The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Baby Brain Games. New York: Alpha.

As the introduction to this book states:

Research shows that the more you talk to, sing to, and interact with your baby, the more successful he’ll be in school and in his personal relationships. Who wouldn’t want that for their baby?

Of course, parents want better lives for their kids, and this book can help. It’s sort of an instruction manual for urging growth in your baby’s brain. It provides hundreds of easy-to-do games for newborns to kids who are 18-months-old. It gives the best ages for trying each game, tells parents how to play them, and describes what benefits the games can provide.

Sometimes, you might even find that babies are ready for certain games much sooner than expected. For example, this book suggests trying a “counting game” as early as 6-months-old.

Shapiro and Lawler even include a chapter on ways to calm your baby. That alone makes this book a worth while read for most parents.

So if you ever find yourself at a loss for making up new games, this book is your answer!
