About Dr. Mike

Dr. Mike always keeps up on news about kids. As a science journalist, one of his first articles even appeared in Cricket, a magazine for kids. Later, he wrote for other children’s magazines, including Boys’ Life and Muse. Dr. Mike has also written for many magazines for older readers, including DiscoverPopular Science, Scientific American, and many others.

Beyond writing about science, Dr. Mike also studied it. He earned an M.S. in biological engineering from the University of Connecticut, while working in the physiology department. In addition, he holds a Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University.

On NewsAboutKids.com, Dr. Mike will combine his skills—an interest in kids and science—to keep parents updated on the latest news related to kids. The stories posted here will cover scientific and medical discoveries, as well as psychological and social news.

Dr. Mike also wrote a book about our senses—hearing, seeing, and so on— for high school students. If you have a high school student in your family who is interested in the brain or psychology, they might enjoy this book:
